RBC Heritage
My preview for the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town this weekend. It will be interesting to see how the players from The Masters get on at Harbour Town as it was a long weekend at Augusta due to all the rain delays. It’s another designated event on the PGA Tour which means it’s a worldclass field that includes Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and 2023 Masters winner Jon Rahm.
Patrick Cantlay finished second at 2022 RBc Heritage. Cantlay finished tied 14th at The Masters weekend but shot 68 in his third round. Cantlay didn’t have the final round that he wanted at Augusta but is coming into this event in good form. Cantlay likes the course and this is why I think Cantlay will win this weekend.
Shane Lowry finished tied ninth at 2021 RBC Heritage. Lowry had a great chance of winning at Harbour Town until a couple of bogeys on the back nine and had to settle for a tied third finish. The Irish man had a great start at Augusta but fell away after all the delays and finished in a tied for 16th on two under. My opinion is that Lowry likes Harbour Town and I think he will finish in the top five this weekend.
Russell Henley was impressive at Augusta as he finished tied fourth on seven under. Henley had success at Harbour Town in 2021 as he finished tied ninth. He is coming into this event in good form after a great finish at The Masters and my opinion is that he will continue his good form by finishing in the top five this weekend.
Rickie Fowler shot a final round of six under to finish tied 10th at the Valero Texas Open. Fowler didn’t play at The Masters and his motivation is to get back inside the top 50 which means you will qualify for the majors. Fowler will be fresh as he wasn’t involved in all the rain delays at Augusta and is coming into this event in good form. Fowler is currently 58th in the latest world golf rankings and a good finish this week could bring him back inside the top 50. Fowler has been on the comeback trail this year and it will be great if he continues his good form at Harbour Town by finishing in the top 10.
Sepp Straka had a chance to win the 2022 edition but ended up finishing in a tie for third. Straka knows how to win on difficult golf courses as he won The Honda Classic last year. Straka is currently ranked 36th in the latest world golf rankings and has plans of making Luke Donald’s Ryder Cup team in Rome. Straka likes the course and I think he will finish in the top 10 this weekend.
It’s a great field with so many great players in the field which means the standard of golf over the weekend will be good. It would be great if Seamus Power has four good rounds as he hasn’t been playing well lately. Hope you enjoy the action over the weekend.
