AT & T Pebble Beach Pro-Am preview

This is the second Signature Event of 2024 with a prize fund of $20,000,000. Major champions Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and 2023 FedEx Cup champion Viktor Hovland are all participating in 2024 edition. Two courses will be used for this years event which are Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hills Golf Course. McIlroy is playing in the AT &T Pebble Beach Pro-Am for the first time in six years.

Jordan Spieth won the AT &T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in 2017. Spieth finished tied ninth in 2020 edition. Three-time major champion finished tied third in 2021 AT &T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. In 2022 edition Spieth finished runner-up to Tom Hoge. Spieth shot four rounds in the 60s to finish third at The Sentry in January 2024. I think Spieth will win the AT &T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

In 2023 Ludvig Aberg turned professional and won his first event on both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour. Aberg also played in 2023 Ryder Cup as a rookie in Marco Simone. Aberg’s best finish so far in 2024 was a tied ninth at Farmers Insurance Open. Aberg is currently 32nd in World Golf Rankings and has already qualified for this years Masters and The Open. I think Aberg will finish in the top five.

In 2021 Patrick Cantlay finished tied third in AT &T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. 2021 wasn’t the only successful year as Cantlay finished tied fourth in 2022 AT &T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Cantlay started 2024 with a tied 12th finish at The Sentry. The American is currently sixth in World Golf Rankings. I think Cantlay will finish in the top five.

In 2023 AT &T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Denny McCarthy finished tied fourth. McCarthy’s best finish in 2023 was losing in a play-off to Hovland at The Memorial. McCarthy’s best finish in 2024 so far was a top 25 at Sony Open. I think McCarthy will finish in the top 10.

Nicolai Hojgaard played in 2023 Ryder Cup and won 2023 DP World Tour Championship. Hojgaard’s win in Dubai earned himself a PGA Tour card for 2024 season. Hojgaard started 2024 with a top 25 finish at Dubai Invitational and a tied seventh at Hero Dubai Desert Classic. The Danish star is in excellent form after finishing second at the recent Farmers Insurance Open. I think Hojgaard will finish in the top 10.

It will be interesting to see how McIlroy gets on as it’s his first tournament of 2024 in America. Seamus Power is also participating in this week’s event at Pebble Beach. Hope you enjoy the action over the weekend at Pebble Beach.
