A big weekend ahead in the Premier League
My predictions for this weekend’s Premier League games. Liverpool versus Manchester United is the game of the weekend at Anfield on Sunday. Arsenal play their second home game in a row against struggling AFC Bournemouth. EFL Cup final losers Newcastle United travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.
Newcastle need to start picking up a couple of wins if they still have ambitions of finishing in the top four. At least the EFL Cup final will not be a distraction anymore with the match over now. Newcastle are capable of getting a good result away from home as they have drawn against both Arsenal and Manchester United this season. Man City have a full squad that they can pick from for this game. With now been eight points behind league leaders it’s going to take a big push for the champions to win the title this season. The pattern of this game will be that the home side will have all the possession and Newcastle looking to create chances on the counter attack. Score prediction 1-0
Arsenal host Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are in the driving seat regarding the title race and have another favourable match at home this weekend. Bournemouth won their last away game against Wolves at Molineux. Bournemouth will defend deep and will hope that Arsenal have a rare off day in front of goal. Score prediction 3-0
Chelsea welcome Leeds United to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were very poor in their last game against Tottenham Hotspur and still struggle to score a goal. My opinion is that I’m surprised that Graham Potter is still the manager as I thought he would of lost his job by now. Leeds achieved a huge win in their last game against Southampton. After watching their FA Cup game against Fulham it looks like that new manager Gracia Carlos will make Leeds tougher to break down. I think this is a great opportunity for Leeds to get a result especially with the home side struggling. Score prediction 0-1
Brighton & Hove Albion host West Ham at the AMEX Stadium. West Ham conceded three sloppy goals in the second half at Old Trafford during the week. It was fantastic to see Evan Ferguson score again in Brighton’s FA Cup win against Stoke. Brighton are 10 points behind fourth place Spurs but have three games in hand. West Ham have improved lately especially with scoring four goals in their win last weekend against Nottingham Forest. Score prediction 2-1
Aston Villa take on Crystal Palace. Palace got a well-earned clean sheet in their last game against Liverpool. Ollie Watkins is in great form as he has scored in the last five games. Villa will go into the top half of the Premier League and above Chelsea if they achieve a win against Palace. Score prediction 1-0
Wolves host Spurs at Molineux. Spurs are very inconsistent and you are not sure which Spurs will show up. Will it be their great performance against Chelsea or their terrible performance in losing against Sheffield United. Wolves lost their home game against Bournemouth and are still looking over their shoulder in the relegation scrap. I’m not convinced that Spurs will win this game so my score prediction is a draw.
Southampton take on Leicester at St Mary’s. Southampton are three points behind 19th place Bournemouth and need to quickly win games if they want to avoid the drop. Leicester went out of the FA Cup during the week after losing to Championship side Blackburn Rovers. James Maddison continues to struggle for fitness and he is a huge blow when he doesn’t play for Leicester. Score prediction 1-1
Nottingham Forest host Everton in a huge relegation battle on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how Everton perform after conceding four goals at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening. Forest are currently four points above Everton and the home side will take a massive step towards survival if they achieve another three points at home. Sean Dyche is all about clean sheets but they have conceded six goals in their last two games. Score prediction 1-0
The big game of the weekend is at Anfield between Liverpool and Manchester United. Man United won their first trophy in six years at Wembley against Newcastle. Erik Ten Hag has brought a winning mentality to Man United and this continued during the week as they came from behind to beat West Ham 3-1. Liverpool got a well needed win in their last rescheduled Premier League game against Wolves. Anfield is always a tough place under Jurgen Klopp but this is another opportunity for Man United to show how far they have come in such a short space of time under Erik Ten Hag. Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool’s midfield has been a problem and Man United will look to take advantage of that on the counter attack. Score prediction 1-2
The final game of the weekend is on Monday between Fulham and Brentford. Both teams are having fantastic seasons and this could be a good game. Marco Silva has done an amazing job with Fulham as this is their best season in years. Brentford will go to Craven Cottage and will create chances by either a set-piece or on the counter attack. Score prediction 1-0
Hope you enjoy the action over the weekend.
