Is Cristiano Ronaldo on the way out

Manchester United on alert

The football rumours suggested that ex Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was potentially joining rivals Manchester City. Manchester United didn’t have much interest in bringing Cr7 back to Old Trafford but this forced their hand as Red Devils are desperate to get back to the top table in the Premier League. Manchester United got Portuguese team mate Bruno Fernandes and ex Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to convince Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes to rejoin Manchester United. It all happened quick as Manchester United completed the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus before the closing of the 2021 Summer Transfer Window.

The Agreement

Manchester United paid Juventus an initial €15 million for Ronaldo with added €8 million for add-ons on a two-year contract. Cristiano Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes agreed a weekly wage of £385,000 with Manchester United. My opinion was that Manchester United should not have signed Cristiano Ronaldo as it ruins the development of young players coming through at the club.

The Debut

Manchester United fans were very excited about Ronaldo’s return as fans spent £52.5 million on his jersey at Man United Megastore in the first 12 hours. If you wanted to see Cristiano Ronaldo second debut against Newcastle United in 2021 it would have cost you £2,500 for a front row seat. Ronaldo lived up to the big billing as he scored twice on his second debut. Sky Sports analyst and ex Manchester United defender Gary Neville said on Monday Night Football “I haven’t seen Manchester like that for years and it’s so exciting for both Manchester United and the Premier League.”

Come Back King

Ronaldo dragged Manchester United into the Last 16 of 2021/2022 Champions League as he scored big goals in their comeback wins against both Villarreal and Atalanta. Ronaldo was dropped for Manchester United’s visit to Stamford Bridge in November 2021 and after the match Sky Sports analysts Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher questioned the decision. Keane said that “Man United are now a cup team and they brought back Ronaldo to win trophies.”

Still Breaking Records

Ronaldo continues to break records as he scored his 800th goal against Arsenal in December 2021. Ronaldo is a proven goal scorer and he guarantees goals which is massive in football. Ronaldo scored 14 goals from 20 appearances at the halfway stage of 2021/2022 Premier League season.

Scoring for Fun

Cr7 scored 10 goals in 2022. Ronaldo has scored 20 goals or over for the last 12 seasons in a row which is remarkable. In my opinion Ronaldo is a legend as he has done it in several leagues throughout Europe which include La Liga, Seria A and Premier League.

Ronaldo Missing

Ronaldo did not travel to Thailand with Manchester United for their pre-season tour due to personal reasons. Ronaldo and agent Mendes has met new manager Erik Ten Hag since then to discuss his future at Manchester United. Ronaldo is trying to leave this Summer but he still has another year to run on his contract which will be the stumbling block in Ronaldo trying to leave. It would be fantastic if Man United could convince him to stay as his goals are crucial for the Red Devils.
