Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are three shots behind halfway leader Bud Cauley

Rickie Fowler started his second round on level par, Sungjae Im level par and Sepp Straka three under. Fowler, Straka and Im played the 10th hole in a combined four under. Fowler reached three under after a birdie at his fourth hole. Straka returned to three under after a fantastic birdie at the 180 yard par three 15th hole. Fowler held a great birdie putt at his eight hole to reach four under.

Fowler’s flatstick was hot as he played his front nine in five under. Straka started his back nine with a birdie to reach three under. Fowler continued to hole putts as he advanced to six under after 12. Fowler finished his second round with two bogeys in three holes to shoot 67. Both Straka and Im missed the cut due to over par rounds.

Justin Rose started day two on two under, Matt Fitzpatrick one under and Tom Kim three under. Kim, Rose and Fitzpatrick all managed to achieve a birdie at the par five 10th hole. Fitzpatrick played holes 10 to 13 in three under. Rose dropped back to one under after bogeys at 13 and 14. An impressive front nine of four under for Fitzpatrick.

Kim made his second birdie of day two at his ninth hole to reach five under. An excellent second shot from 112 as Rose advanced to two under after 10 holes. Fitzpatrick’s second shot from 190 at the second hole found a penalty area and resulted in a double bogey. Rose made two birdies in a row to reach three under after 11 holes. A great bounce back by Fitzpatrick as he held a six-footer for birdie at hole three.

Kim held a 26 foot putt to reach six under after 14 holes. Kim held an impressive eight-foot putt to remain six under after 15 holes. Kim duffed his chip shot which resulted in a bogey at seven. Fitzpatrick played his final three holes in one under to shoot a impressive round of 67. Rose finished with a birdie to shoot 70. Kim finished his round with a fantastic birdie to shoot 68.

Shane Lowry started his second round on four under, Camilo Villegas two under and Matthieu Pavon four under. Rory McIlroy started his second round on four under, Chris Kirk four under and Jake Knapp three under. McIlroy got off to a bad start with a bogey at the first hole. McIlroy responded brillantly with birdies at the second and third hole to reach five under. Lowry advanced to five under after a birdie at the third hole.

Knapp advanced to four under after a birdie at the third hole. Knapp made his third birdie of day two at the sixth hole to reach six under. Kirk made three birdies in seven holes to reach six under. Pavon’s front nine of one under included two birdies and one bogey. Lowry finished his front nine with a bogey and two pars to shoot 35. McIlroy finished the front nine with six pars to shoot 34.

Lowry started the back nine with four incredible birdies to reach eight under. McIlroy, Knapp and Kirk were all successful in making birdies at the par five 10th hole. McIlroy dropped back to five under after a three-putt at 12. Pavon made two birdies in four holes to reach six under. Lowry remained eight under after pars at 15,  16 and 17.

A beautiful seven iron at 15 as McIlroy moves to six under. McIlroy hit a stunning second shot at 16 as 2012 champion moves to seven under. Lowry settles for a closing par to shoot 67. Pavon finished with four pars to shoot 68. Villegas makes the halfway cut on two under.

McIlroy finishes with three birdies in four holes to shoot 67. Knapp finishes with a closing birdie to shoot 66. Kirk finishes day two on five under. Padraig Harrington shot a round of 73 and misses the cut. It’s set up for a fantastic weekend at Cognizant Classic with 13 players in three shots of the lead.

At the SDC Championship Tom McKibbin opened up with a three under round. McKibbin’s second round of 70 included five birdies, one eagle, a double bogey and three bogeys. McKibbin will begin day three on five under and five shots behind leader Dan Brown.

Leona Maguire opened up with a two under round at HSBC Women’s World Championship. Maguire’s first eight holes of day two included one birdie and a bogey but finished the front nine with a double bogey. Maguire finished day two with three bogeys in five holes to shoot a disappointing 77. Maguire will begin day three on three over and 11 shots behind leader Celine Boutier.
