Paddy’s review: 2020

In the premier league:

The champs in waiting, Liverpool took another giant step towards winning the league as they hammered their old rivals United. The pool outclassed the opposition in the game and they could dominate for a few years now because from 1 to 11 they were outstanding. They could go the whole season unbeaten because they are miles ahead of the rest but for United it is going to take a good few years if they want to get back to where they once where and it will take a lot of new players for that to happen as well. If you were a good player at the moment why would want to go to United because they have no champions league and they are shite.

Man City dropped more points against Palace as there vulnerable defence paid havoc again. They need to buy a defender so badly but going forward they are unbelievable with Aguero banging in the goals. He has to go down as one of the best strikers in the league because of his records but Palace they play great away from home because they are deadly on the break.

Leicester are starting to crumble and could miss out on top four because they are starting to concede more goals and the goals have dried up going forward. But for Burnley it was a great comeback win which give them a well needed confidence boost as they try to move well away from the relegation zone. The form of Nick Pope could be crucial is this is to happening.

I thought that Spurs’s performance was a disgrace and only for Watford missing a penalty they would have been beaten which would have been what they deserved. Watford, they are starting to turn a corner with Person in Charge as they try to make a charge up the table.

I know that I rave about Sheffield United I thought that they weren’t great against Arsenal but they did enough to get a result which would be another moral boost in their first season back in the league. A great trait for Sheff Utd is that their well drilled and never get a hiding because of this but for Arsenal since Arteta has gotten the job he has made the gunners better both mentality and physically as a team.

Elsewhere in the league:

The Canaries got a well needed win against the Cherries. This could be a springboard for their attempt to stay up in the league and the form of their striker Pukki will be crucial if they want to stay up also injury hit Newcastle. A big win against wasteful Chelsea the Toon won the game just by staying in the game and taking their chances when they got them. Wolves got an unbelievable comeback win against Southampton it was great to see because when they were getting beaten they didn’t panic and kept playing their stuff which was brilliant to see.

In the championship:

It looks like Leeds won’t go up this season because they are conceding too many goals. They also can’t score many goals going forward because they have many strikers for West Brom, couldn’t brake down Stoke team and it looks like they are starting to crumble. The pressure of going up could get to them but for Stoke, O Neill is doing a good job with them and it looks like he will keep them in the league for the playoff chasing teams. Fulham got a good win at home against the Borough and they are on a good run at the moment for Millwall Gary Rowett has them playing a attractive brand of football which is getting some great results as they push to finish in the playoffs.

In golf:

The first Rolex event in Dubai was won by the veteran Lee Westwood, he has always been a great ball striker but his putting goes missing sometimes however his putting in this event was brilliant. If he gets his putting like that in the coming months he could win a big tournament. Were as on the PGA tour the American Express open was on the performance of Andrew Landry to win. The event was amazing because when your winning a tournament it’s tough to get it over the line but he headed of into the sunset and won it by a mile.

In Rugby:

The Champions cup Munster got their marching orders as they were knocked out of the competition, they came up short because they don’t have the players that they once had. Leinster kept their unbeaten run in the competition as they steamroled Treviso I think that they will win the competition this season. Connacht came up short in their attempt to qualify to the next round but they would have been punching above their weight. The standard is high in this competition.  Ulster they done enough in the early rounds to get through the form of John Cooney will be crucial if they want to do well in the next round.

In Snooker:

To finish Ali Carter rolled back the years as he won the Masters, it just goes to show sticking at something will get the rewards in the end and not given up on something. If he can repeat this form in the World Champs later on in the season he could be a good beat for that competition.

Cheers
