Team of the season: 2020/2021 Premier League
With the 2020/2021 Premier League season coming to an end here is my Premier League team of the season
In goal is Ederson (Manchester City) Ederson has been outstanding this year for Manchester City. I have never seen a goalkeeper so good with his feet like Ederson his range of passing is amazing for a goalkeeper. Right Back Joao Cancelo (Manchester City) Cancelo has brought the position of a defender to another level this season. When Manchester City have the ball Cancelo plays as an extra midfielder and the runs he makes are unbelievable and his movement makes space for Manchester City’s attacking players. His defending has improved but going forward he has been outstanding and he is one of the reasons why Manchester City have been so good in the second half of the Premier League. Left Back Luke Shaw (Manchester United) Shaw has been Manchester United’s best player this season. His defending skills have been great this season especially the way he kept Salah quiet when Manchester United played Liverpool earlier this season. Going forward his runs have been outstanding even when Manchester United are drawing games Shaw looks like the only player that create a goal for the Red Devils. Shaw has to be first choice for England in the European Championships this Summer and Shaw just needs to keep himself fit. Centre Back Ruben Diaz (Manchester City) Diaz signed for Manchester City last Summer and he said at the time that he was going to be better than Kompany. Since Guardiola put Diaz into the team he has been a leader for Manchester City. He loves to defend and his presence in the team has improved other players around the club. I wasn’t sure when Diaz joined Manchester City if he could change the way Manchester City defend but he has proving me wrong and it was remarkable how many clean sheets he was able to get with John Stones earlier this season. Centre Back Johnny Evans (Leicester City) Evans has brought a lot of experience to the table with The Foxes this season. If Leicester were able to finish in the top four season it will be down to Evans because his leadership and reading of the game has been vital for Leicester this season. Centre midfielders Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) it has been remarkable the impact that Fernandes has had on Manchester United this season. He is very cool and calm under pressure and everyone sees this when he takes the penalties for United. His creativity and passing has been outstanding he is so good he wins games for United on his own for United. He is also hard working because he stays back after training to work on his free kicks and Bruno Fernandes has to be Manchester United’s best signing for the last few years. The other Centre Midfielder is IIikay Gundogan (Manchester City) I have put Gundogan in my team because he scored a lot of important goals in the second half of the season which put Manchester City on top of the table. With having no centre forward Gundogan’s runs from midfield have been excellent in creating attacks and goals for Manchester City this season. Wingers Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City) last season Mahrez was in and out of the team and fans were wondering why Mahrez wasn’t playing for Manchester City on a regular basis. This season Mahrez has brought his game to another level with Manchester City. The way he cuts in with his left foot off the right wing is so effective and Mahrez has pitched in with some big goals lately for Manchester City. Raheem Sterling can’t get into the Manchester City team this season because Mahrez is playing so well. The other winger is Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) I know that Liverpool haven’t been playing well this season but I think Salah has continued to play well this season. Salah is a goal machine for Liverpool and he is the only Liverpool forward that looks like creating a chance for Liverpool this season. Number ten position Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) KDB has to been the best player in the Premier League this season. His left foot is as good as his right foot and he can play all over the forward line because he is so talented. It must be a dream to play De Bruyne because you know that he will give you a perfect pass nearly every time. He deserves to get the best player in the Premier League because De Bruyne sets the standards with Manchester City and as I mentioned above it must be a dream to play with De Bruyne. Striker Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) I know that Spurs haven’t been great this season but Kane has managed to break records again. Kane is so consistent the amount of goals he scores is unbelievable considering he is supposed to be playing a bit deeper. If you want to know how to take a penalty just watch Kane because he is deadly under pressure. It will be interesting to see if he stays or leaves Spurs in the Summer.
