A big weekend ahead in the world of professional golf

Paddy Morgan looks ahead to this week’s PGA Tour, DP World Tour, LPGA Tour and LIV Tour action.

TPC Deere Run is the venue for this week’s John Deere Classic. In the 2022 edition Denny McCarthy finished in a tie for sixth. McCarthy’s best performance on the PGA Tour in 2023 was losing in a play-off to Viktor Hovland at The Memorial. With just two weeks to the final golf major of 2023 at Royal Liverpool and it’s a good time for McCarthy to win on the PGA Tour. I believe that McCarthy will win the John Deere Classic.

Adam Schenk finished in a tie for sixth at 2019 John Deere Classic. 2019 wasn’t the only year that Schenk played well at the John Deere Classic as he finished in a tie for fourth in 2021. Schenk finished seventh at the recent Rocket Mortgage Classic. I think that Schenk will continue his good form this week and finish in the top five.

Lucas Glover shot rounds of 64 and 65 to finish in a tie for fourth at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Glover is currently130 in the FedEx Cup rankings and needs to start playing well quickly as only the top70 makes the play-offs. A bit of a long shot but I think Glover will continue his good form and finish in the top 10.

DP World Tour action takes place at the Made in Himmerland. The Danish brothers Nicolai and Rasmuis Hoejgaard are in the field for this week’s event. Ewen Ferguson finished in a tie for fourth at the British Masters. Ferguson had a successful 2022 Made in Himmerland as he finished second on 20 under. I think Ferguson will win the Made in Himmerland. Andy Sullivan played for Europe in the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine. Sullivan finished in a tie for 15th at the British Masters. I think Sullivan will continue his improved form by finishing in the top 10 at the Made in Himmerland.

Pebble Beach is hosting the US Women’s Open this weekend. Leona Maguire had a disappointing final round at the Women’s PGA Championship and finished in a tie for 11th. It would be fantastic if Maguire could bounce back from that disappointment and have a great week at Pebble Beach. I’m confident about Maguire finishing in the top five this weekend.

Anna Nordqvist had a great final round of six under to finish in a tie for third at the Women’s PGA Championship. Nordqvist has won three majors in three different decades and is looking for another good week at Pebble Beach. I believe that Nordqvist will finish in the top 10 at the US Women’s Open.

Finally LIV Tour are having an event this week at Centurion Club. Cameron Smith came fourth at the recent US Open at Los Angeles Country Club. Smith will be defending The Open in a couple of weeks at Royal Liverpool and this week is a great opportunity for the Australian to win another event.

Hope you enjoy the action this weekend.
