The Genesis Invitational
My predictions for The Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour this weekend. 15 time major winner Tiger Woods makes his return to professional golf at The Genesis Invitational. It will be interesting to see how Tiger gets on considering that he has not played since the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Woods is not the only big name in the field as Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Jordan Spieth are all teeing it up at The Genesis Invitational. Rory McIlroy will be looking for a better performance this week as he struggled in his recent tournament at Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Justin Thomas finished sixth at 2022 The Genesis Invitational. 2022 was a fantastic year as the American won his second PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Thomas shot a final round of six under to finish fourth at 2023 Waste Management Phoenix Open. My opinion is that Thomas will continue his good form and win The Genesis Invitational this weekend.
Max Homa won the 2021 The Genesis Invitational. Homa also finished in the top ten at 2022 The Genesis Invitational. Homa is coming into this tournament in good form after winning 2023 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Homa showed that he is calm under pressure as he holed a couple of incredible putts throughout America’s win at 2022 Presidents Cup. Homa is currently ranked 12th in world golf rankings and will have plans to get inside the top ten and make the American Ryder Cup team in 2023. My opinion is that Homa will finish in the top five due to his recent record at The Genesis Invitational.
Viktor Hovland finished tied fifth at 2021 The Genesis Invitational. His great form at this event continued in 2022 as he finished tied fourth. The Norwegian showed signs of good form this year as he finished in the top 15 at 2023 AT & T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. My opinion is that Hovland will finish in the top five and Europe need the Norwegian to be in good form for 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome.
Rickie Fowler has struggled over the last few years but has improved since returning to his former coach Butch Harmon. Fowler had a hole in one in the final round of Waste Management Phoenix Open. The game of golf needs Fowler at his best and it is fantastic that he is on the comeback trail. Fowler is coming into The Genesis Invitational in good form as he finished in the top ten of 2023 Waste Management Phoenix Open. My opinion is that Fowler will finish in the top 10 this weekend.
A huge outsider in the bookies for this event is Brandon Wu. Wu shot a fantastic round of six under to finished tied second at 2023 AT & T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He is coming into this event in good form and my opinion is that Wu will finish in the top ten this weekend.
It would be a great achievement if Woods made the cut at The Genesis Invitational. It will be interesting to see what the response is from McIlroy with not been number one in the world anymore. It is excellent that all the big players are playing at The Genesis Invitational and hope you enjoy the action over the weekend.
