Premier League predictions for Saturday 18th February 2023
My predictions for this weekend’s Premier League games. Manchester City are currently top of the table in the title race after beating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening. A couple of six pointers at the bottom this weekend with Everton hosting Leeds United at Goodison Park and Wolves taking on Bournemouth at Molineux. Liverpool have a chance to win two games in a row as they travel to St James Park to take on fourth place Newcastle United.
Brentford have been outstanding this season and Thomas Frank has done an remarkable job with The Bees. Brentford have ambitions on finishing in Europe this season as they are currently eight in the latest Premier League table. Crystal Palace were very lucky to get a draw in their last game against Brighton & Hove Albion as the away side were robbed by a terrible VAR decision. Palace will need to pick up more points if they want to guarantee survival this season. With Brentford been at home my opinion is that the home side will win 2-0
Brighton have also been brillant this season as they are currently in sixth position. Brighton will be looking to close the gap on fifth place Tottenham Hotspur as they are only four points behind them. This game has the makings of a good one as Fulham are seventh and Brighton are sixth. Andreas Periera accuracy with crosses for Fulham has been delicious this season and the away side will need his creativity to get a positive result at The AMEX. My opinion is that both teams will score with Brighton winning 2-1
Nottingham Forest welcome the champions Man City to the City Ground. Man City achieved a excellent result in midweek as they beat Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium. City’s big players were fantastic against Arsenal with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland both getting on the score sheet. This will be a hard game for City as Forest have been in good form at home this season. Brennan Johnson scored an extraordinary goal in their last home game and the home side will rely on a goal from him against City. It will be a tough game for the home side with City winning 0-1
Chelsea welcome bottom of the table Southampton to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s performances have improved in the last couple of games but struggle to score a goal without a natural striker in their team. It’s a great chance for Chelsea to score a couple of goals today with Southampton stuck to bottom of the table. Southampton sacked their manager Nathan Jones after losing to Brentford last weekend and it was a gamble given him the job as he had no real experience of managing a team in the Premier League. Southampton still have a chance of staying up this season as they are only four points off 17th place Leeds. My opinion is that Chelsea will win 3-0
Everton against Leeds is a huge relegation clash this weekend. Leeds are still without a manager but are struggling to score a goal as Patrick Bamford is out of form. Leeds game plan will be to play on the break with the pace of attacking player Wilfried Gnonto. This is Sean Dyche’s second home game in charge and their performance against Liverpool showed that it’s going to take more than one win against Arsenal to stay up this season. Dyche is a good manager but no signings in the transfer window could be a huge problem in Everton’s Premier League status. This will be a nervous game as both teams don’t want to lose and my opinion is that the away side will win 2-1
Another six pointer as Wolves welcome Bournemouth to Molineux. Wolves have got a couple of great results in their last two games with winning at home against Liverpool and away at St Mary’s. This is a huge game for the home side as Wolves could move to 12th position in the table with a win. Bournemouth achieved a draw in their last game against Newcastle. It’s getting to the stage of the season were draws won’t be enough to stay in the Premier League. My opinion is that the home side will win 1-0
The late game is between Newcastle and Liverpool at St James Park. Newcastle have struggled for wins lately as they have drawn their last two games against West Ham and Bournemouth. The distraction of the EFL Cup final next weekend could be affecting their Premier League performances. Liverpool got a well needed win in the Merseyside derby against Everton on Monday evening. Mo Salah scored in their win against Everton and this will be a timely confidence boost for the Egyptian. The team selection from Jurgen Klopp’s men will be interesting as Liverpool are playing Real Madrid in the Champions League next Tuesday. My opinion is that this game has the potential to be a great match and I think the home side will win 3-2
Hope you enjoy the action today.
