An entertaining Saturday especially with a scoring average of 66.97 at softened Travellers Championship

Saturday’s final group consisted of 36 hole -13 leader Tom Kim and -11 Collin Morikawa. Morikawa got off to an exceptional start with a birdie at the first hole to get within one shot of leader Kim. Kim bounced back immediately after his first bogey of the week with a birdie at 231 yard fifth hole to return -13. A birdie at six by Kim was good enough to reach -14. Kim held an exceptional putt at the eighth hole to advance -15.

Scottie Scheffler -11 made his presence known on the leaderboard especially with a birdie at two to reach -12. Xander Schauffele -10 advanced to -13 due to three birdies in six holes. Scheffler achieved his third birdie of day three at six after a fabulous shot from 216 yards resulting in advancing to -14. Schauffele held an extraordinary birdie putt from the front of ninth green to shoot 31. Kim -15 headed to 10th tee one ahead of -14 Morikawa, Scheffler, Schauffele.

A rare mistake by Scheffler as he failed to achieve a par at 11 and returned -13. Schauffele continued to impress with two birdies in a row at 13 and 14 to reach -16. Kim was putting pressure on chasing pack especially with achieving a birdie at 13 to reach -17. Schauffele jumped out of chasing pack and a birdie at 15 was good enough to join Kim at top on -17. Scheffler kept his hopes of a win alive with three incredible birdies at 15, 16, 17 to reach -16. Kim went back into the lead finishing day three on -18, one shot ahead of -17 Scheffler and Schauffele a further shot back.

Shane Lowry -9 shot rounds of 69,62 and played the third round with Justin Thomas. Lowry took advantage of a good wedge shot at the second hole to return -9. Lowry moved up to -10 with his second birdie of Saturday at four. The Offaly native held an excellent birdie putt at nine to reach -11. Lowry achieved two birdies in three holes to reach -13. Lowry’s final birdie of day three came at 18 to post -14.

Cameron Young -2 made two eagles and played 15 holes in -10 to reach -12. Young achieved his 11th birdie of Saturday at 17 to reach -13. Young held a nine-foot seven inch par putt at 18 and becomes the 13th golfer to shoot a round of 59 on PGA Tour.
