Both tournaments affected by protests as Shane Lowry & Tom McKibbin record top 10 finishes on respective tours and Scottie Scheffler wins fourth Signature Event

Tom Kim -18 shot rounds of 62, 65, 65 and took a one-shot lead over -17 Scottie Scheffler and Akshay Bhatia into Sunday’s final round. Cameron Young -13 continued to impress as his front nine of -5 included birdies at the first, second, third and fourth hole. Scheffler -19 made it two birdies in a row at seven and took a one-shot lead over -18 Kim, Bhatia and Young into the back nine. Shane Lowry played Sunday’s final round with Justin Thomas and Tony Finau. Finau -14 played the front nine in -3 and achieved birdies at 11 & 12 to reach -19. After 12 holes of the final round Kim, Bhatia, Finau and Scheffler were all joint first on -19.

The world number one hit an incredible shot from 248 yards at 13 which led to a birdie. Kim answered Scheffler with a birdie of his own at 13 and both were tied on -20. Finau achieved a birdie at 15 to reach -20 but his challenge came to an end especially with finding a penalty area a hole later resulting in a double bogey. Scheffler started to find the cup with birdies at 14 and 15 to reach -22. Scheffler -22 headed to 18th tee one shot ahead of nearest challenger -21 Kim.

Kim hit a sensational second shot from 131 yards at 18 and held his putt to tie -22 Scheffler. The 73rd hole of Travellers Championship between Scheffler and Kim took place at the 18th hole. Scheffler played his fairway shot first finding the green and Kim unfortunately hit his shot heavy into a bunker. Kim’s ball was plugged in a greenside bunker resulting in a bogey and Scheffler was confirmed as winner. A fantastic response by Scheffler to beat Kim in a play-off especially after a tied 41st result at US Open. Scheffler only becomes the second golfer since Arnold Palmer in 1962 to record six victories before July 1st.

Scheffler received a winners check of $3.6 million. Kim earned $2.6 million for finishing runner-up to Scheffler. Tom Hoge shot a final round of 62 finishing tied third with Im and both earned $1.6 million. Bhatia, Patrick Cantlay, Finau and Thomas all finished tied fifth on -18.

Lowry’s front nine of -1 included three birdies and a double bogey. Offaly native played the back nine in -2 to finish -17. Lowry finished tied ninth with Young, Brian Harman and Wyndham Clark all earning $520,000. Seamus Power -7 shot an incredible round of 63 to finish tied 20th on -13.

Tom McKibbin played all four rounds at the US Open and returned to play in DP World Tour KLM Open. McKibbin -3 shot a sensational final round of 65 to finish sixth on -9 and KLM Open was won by Guido Migliozzi. Sahalee Country Club hosted KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and Leona Maguire started Saturday -3. Maguire unfortunately played the weekend in +7 to finish tied 24th on +4. Padraig Harrington shot an extraordinary final round of 68 to win Champions Tour Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.
