Marcus Rashford is back to his best

Debut

Marcus Rashford made his Manchester United debut against FC Midtjylland at Old Trafford in February 2016. Rashford scored twice in his Europa League debut as Man United beat FC Midtjylland 6-3 on aggregate. Rashford has been at Man United since he was seven years old and made his Premier League debut against Arsenal in February 2016. He impressed immediately as he followed up his two Europa League goals with scoring a brace in his Premier League debut against Arsenal. Rashford scored 12 goals in 2015/2016 season which rewarded his first senior England cap and scored on his debut against Australia.

Old Trafford

Rashford holds the record for the youngest English player to play at the UEFA European Championships in 2016. Rashford scored five goals in the 2016/2017 and seven goals in the 2017/2018 Premier League seasons. He was only 20 years old as he represented England in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Rashford hits double figures in the 2018/2019 Premier League season which included scoring a penalty in Man United’s win against Man City. He also scored two goals in the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League which included scoring Man United’s third goal against PSG.

Covid seasons

Rashford scored the first goal in Man United’s two nil win against Manchester City at Old Trafford in March 2020. The 2019/2020 Premier League returned in June 2020 and Man United finished third on 66 points. Rashford was influential in the 2019/2020 season as he scored 17 Premier League goals. The lack of crowds in the 2020/2021 season didn’t affect Man United as they finished best of the rest in the Premier League with 74 points. He scored 11 Premier League and six Champions League goals in 2020/2021 season which rewarded a call up to England’s Euro 2020 squad.

Euro 2020

Gareth Southgate only gave Rashford 82 minutes in his six appearances at Euro 2020. Southgate brought the Man United forward on in extra time in the Euro 2020 final against Italy. Rashford missed a penalty in the shootout and this miss affected his mental health. His first appearance of the 2021/2022 Premier League season was in November 2021 due to a operation on his shoulder. Man United had a terrible 2021/2022 season under interim manager Ralf Rangnick and the confidence of key players was extremely low especially Rashford as he only scored four Premier League goals.

Erik Ten Hag

Rashford scored a brillant goal in Man United’s first win of the 2022/2023 Premier League season against Liverpool. He also score twice against Arsenal and reached 100 goals for Man United after a sensational header against West Ham in October 2022. The Englishman scored three goals at 2022 FIFA World Cup but Gareth Southgate missed a opportunity in not starting Rashford in England’s quarter-final clash against France. He immediately hit the ground running when club football returned as he scored an unbelievable goal in Man United’s last 16 EFL Cup game against Burnley. He also scored in Man United’s three nil win against Nottingham Forest on December 27th 2022 but was dropped against Wolves on New Years Eve due to a disciplinary issue.

Wolves

His attitude was fantastic as Rashford came on in the second half against Wolves to score an exceptional goal which returned Man United into the top four. He is playing with a smile on his face and confidence is high as Rashford scored his first goal of 2023 against AFC Bournemouth at Old Trafford. He is making things look effortless and he was the difference as he scored a pressure penalty to put Man United into the fourth round of the Fa Cup. Rashford loves playing for Man United and he is doing a fantastic job in front of goal since Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford. He has scored 11 goals in 2022/2023 Premier League and Man United will need a couple of big performances out of him in their next couple of games against both Arsenal and Man City. Man United are a better team without Ronaldo and they need to sort out Rashford’s contract sooner or later as you can not afford to lose him.
