Ex Chelsea & Everton footballer Pat Nevin believes that Erik Ten Hag won’t be at Manchester United next season. “It hasn’t been great under Ten Hag, there is new partners and most certainly they are going to do it their way”, said Nevin. Manchester United have conceded 55 goals in 2023/2024 Premier League season. The final three fixtures of 2023/2024 Premier League season for Manchester United include two home fixtures against Arsenal & Newcastle United and a final day visit to Brighton & Hove Albion before a Wembley showdown on May 25th with neighbours Manchester City. Manchester United are currently eight in the Premier League table and will need to win FA Cup Final to guarantee European football next season.
Nevin is confident that his former club Chelsea shouldn’t sack their manager. “It’s not Mauricio Pochettino’s fault that Chelsea are mid table and I would stick with him”. In 2022 Todd Boehly took over as new Chelsea owner and has spent over one billion on new signings. “I said at the time it will take two years and next year it’s time to start delivering”, said Nevin. Chelsea are currently seventh in Premier League table and are on course to finish in European places.
Title race in both England’s Premier League and Scotland Premiership are extremely tight as the gap between Arsenal & Manchester City is one point and Celtic have a three-point advantage over Rangers. “Manchester City are favourites but Arsenal are not out of it, 65% to 34% in favour of Manchester City”, said Nevin. “Celtic are ahead, Celtic can afford a draw and I would say it’s 60% to 40% in Celtic’s favour”, said ex Scotland International. There could be another twist in England’s Premier League title race especially with Manchester City having to play two away games in three days.
Nevin is optimistic regarding Scotland’s chances of advancing from the group stages at UEFA Euro 2024. “I’m going to be at all three games, the Germany one will be tough but I’m comfortable that we are on par with Switzerland and Hungary”. Steve Clarke will be hoping that nobody picks up an injury before the club season finishes. “There is a couple of areas that Scotland are worried over left back we can do without Kieran Tierney & Andy Robertson getting injured and Scott McTominay will be there hopefully 100%”, said ex Scotland International. UEFA Euro 2024 will start on June 14th and will run until July 14th.
