Five big name players that could be saying goodbye to Old Trafford this Summer

Five-time UEFA Champions League winner Casemiro joined Manchester United in August 2022 for £70 million. Casemiro’s first season at Manchester United was a success as he scored seven times in all competitions including a vital EFL Cup Final goal against Newcastle. The Brazilian’s discipline was extremely poor as he received two red cards throughout 2022/2023 season. Casemiro is currently 32 years old but has lost a yard of pace especially in playing as the only recognised holding midfielder and a defender throughout 2023/2024 season. Casemiro gets paid £300,000 a week, is not out of contract until 2026 but it looks like his days at Old Trafford are numbered especially with not been a part of Man United’s FA Cup Final squad.

In 2022 Manchester United signed Jadon Sancho for £73 million. A stand-off started in September 2023 due to Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag not selecting Sancho in a squad for away game against Arsenal and the Englishman responded with a post on social media. Sancho has refused to play for Manchester United and in January he joined his former side Borussia Dortmund on loan. The Englishman’s six-month return to Germany will cost Manchester United £100,000 a week. Sancho has impressed since returning to Borussia Dortmund with scoring three goals in all competitions and is set to appear at Wembley for this weekend’s UEFA Champions League Final. The return of Sancho to Old Trafford next season depends on if Ten Hag is still there or not.

In 2019 Manchester United signed Harry Maguire from Leicester for £80 million. The Englishman was nearly exiting Old Trafford in 2023 Summer Transfer Window but couldn’t agree a deal with West Ham. Throughout 2023/2024 season Maguire made 31 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United due to defensive injuries. Maguire will more than likely play in UEFA Euro 2024 with England as he was picked in Gareth Southgate’s preliminary 33 man squad. The Englishman earns £190,000 a week, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Manchester United attempt to get Maguire off their wage bill this Summer.

Anthony is currently 24 years old and joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2022 for £86 million. Anthony scored four Premier League goals in his first season including netting on his debut against Arsenal. The Brazilian struggled in 2023/2024 Premier League season with only scoring one goal and due to the rise of winger Alejandro Garnacho. Anthony earns £150,000 a week and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he left in the Summer due to two extremely poor seasons at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford announced himself to the big time with scoring twice in his 2016 Premier League debut against Arsenal. Rashford has scored 131 times for Manchester United including a tally of 30 goals in 2022/2023 season. The England forward was rewarded with a new Manchester United contract in 2023 earning £375,000 a week. Rashford only achieved seven goals in 2023/2024 Premier League season and his drop off in standards resulted in missing out on England’s 33 man Euro 2024 preliminary squad. There was an improvement in Rashford’s all round play against Manchester City at Wembley especially in a delicious cross field pass to set up Kobbie Mainoo’s goal. If Manchester United got a good offer for Rashford it could be strongly considered as it would lighten the wage bill.
