Harry Kane is a superstar
Ex Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood was responsible for given Harry Kane his Spurs debut against Sunderland in August 2014. Kane impressed immediately in his first Premier League game as he scored on the 59th minute. Kane was fantastic in his first season as he scored 21 goals in 2014/2015 Premier League season. 2014/2015 was a breakthrough season for Kane as he made his England debut against Lithuania and scored just seconds after coming on as a substitute.
Mauricio Pochettino brought Spurs to another level while he was in charge since 2014 which included finishing third in 2015/2016 Premier League table. Kane showed in 2015/2016 season that he wasn’t a one season wonder as he scored 25 goals. Pochettino continued to get the best out of Kane as the English man scored 29 goals in 2016/2017 Premier League. Kane’s goals were crucial in 2016/2017 season as Spurs finished second on 86 points seven behind title winners Chelsea.
Kane continued to set consistent figures as he scored 30 goals in 2017/2018 Premier League season. Pochettino had Spurs performing excellent as they finished inside the top four for a third season in a row at the end of 2017/2018 Premier League. 2018 was a special year for Kane as he took home the prize for top scorer with six goals for England at 2018 FIFA World Cup and scored his 100th goal in the Premier League. Kane became the second English player after Gary Linekar to win a Golden Boot at 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Kane only scored 17 goals in 2018/2019 Premier League but scored five goals in Spurs run to 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League final. Pochettino had another strong season with Spurs as they finished fourth in 2018/2019 Premier League and reached 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League final were they lost two nil to Liverpool. Pochettino was sacked by Spurs in November 2019 and it was a shock at the time as he had finished in the top four on a consistent basis and reached a Champions League final.
Jose Mourinho took over as Pochettino’s replacement but Kane extraordinary standards remained the same as he scored 18 goals in 2019/2020 Premier League. Another good year in 2020 for Kane as he scored 150th Premier League goal against West Bromwich Albion. 2020/2021 Premier League proved to be Mourinho’s last season as Spurs manager as they finished outside the top four.
In the Summer of 2021 it was rumoured that Kane was planning to leave Spurs for Manchester City. Spurs were looking for£150 million and Kane verbally agreed a contract at the time to stay at North London club until 2024. Kane took a long Summer break in 2021 after losing UEFA Euro 2020 final with England but still managed to score 17 goals in 2021/2022 season.
Kane hit another outstanding record as he scored his 200th Premier League goal against Man City in February 2023. Kane’s goal against Man City put him on 267 goals for Spurs which meant that he broke Jimmy Greaves goal scoring record of 266 goals to become Tottenham Hotspur’s highest ever goal scorer. Spurs are currently six points off fourth place Manchester United in 2022/2023 Premier League table but you can’t blame Kane for Spurs bad form as he has scored 24 goals in the Premier League this season. Spurs record wasn’t the only record that Kane has broken in 2023 as he is now England’s all-time leading goal scorer on 55 goals after breaking Wayne Rooney’s record of 53.
With six games to play in 2022/2023 Premier League it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kane scored 30 goals this season. Kane has scored 207 goals in the Premier League and is on track to break Alan Shearer record of 260 goals. With it looking like Spurs will not finish in the top four this season this Summer could be full of rumours regarding Kane possibly leaving Spurs. Kane is currently 29 years old and if he has ambitions of winning titles or silverware, it’s nearly coming to the stage of now or never if he wants to leave Spurs.
