Premier League preview
My predictions for this weekend’s Premier League games. With only seven games or eight games to go in the season for teams it’s crucial to pick up points regardless if you are scrapping to stay up or trying to win the title. Two games are postponed from this round of fixtures which are Manchester United versus Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion against Manchester City due to Man United, Man City & Brighton playing in the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend. The game of the weekend is the clash between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur at St James Park on Sunday.
Fulham host struggling Leeds United in the early kick-off on Saturday at Craven Cottage. Fulham are currently in 10th position and have ambitions of finishing in the top half of the table with a strong finish to the season. Leeds have conceded 11 goals in their last two Premier League games against both Crystal Palace and Liverpool at Elland Road. Leeds are currently in 16th position with 29 points and will need to defend a lot better if they want to get a positive result at Craven Cottage. Score prediction 1-1
Brentford take on high flying Aston Villa at the Gtech Community Stadium. Unai Emery has done a remarkable job at Aston Villa which included a fantastic recent home win against Newcastle. Aston Villa are currently in sixth position in the table and will close the gap to three points on fourth place Newcastle if they achieve three points against Brentford. Brentford have been outstanding this season as they are currently in ninth position in the table but have hit a bump in the road as they have lost their last two games against Wolves and Newcastle. Score prediction 1-2
Crystal Palace host Everton at Selhurst Park this weekend. Roy Hodgson has returned to Palace as manager and has worked wonders especially in scoring five against Leeds at Elland Road. Palace can confirm Premier League status for another season as they will go to 39 points if they achieve three points against Everton. Everton are struggling as they have only scored two goals in their last three games and are only above the relegation zone on goal difference. Everton need to get a result from this game if they want to stay up this season and avoid relegation. Score prediction 1-0
Leicester City host Wolverhampton Wanders at the King Power stadium. Leicester have recently appointed Dean Smith as manager and he has a huge job on his hands to avoid relegation this season. Conceding goals has been a big problem for The Foxes as they have conceded six goals in their last three Premier League games. Wolves have got two fantastic home wins in their last two games against Brentford and Chelsea. Wolves will go to 37 points if they achieve a win at the King Power Stadium which means their safety will be confirmed for another season bar a collapse in the last six games. Score prediction 1-2
Liverpool host Nottingham Forest at Anfield. Forest were very poor in their last home game against Man United and would of conceded four or five only for fantastic saves from goalkeeper Keylor Navas. Forest are currently in 18th position and are in big trouble regarding staying in the Premier League this season. Liverpool have been outstanding this season at Anfield as they have only lost one home game. Liverpool have an outside chance of finishing fourth as they are currently nine points behind fourth place Newcastle. Score prediction 3-0
AFC Bournemouth host West Ham United at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday. West Ham achieved a crucial point in their battle to avoid relegation in their last home game against Arsenal. Bournemouth have been outstanding lately as they have picked up some great results against Leicester and Spurs. Only two points separates Bournemouth from West Ham in the table and both teams will be looking to pull themselves away from the relegation scrap. Score prediction 2-0
Newcastle United take on Tottenham Hotspur at St James Park on Sunday. It’s a huge game in the battle for fourth place as Newcastle are on 56 points and Spurs are on 53 points. As bad as this season has been for Spurs they will draw level with Newcastle on points if they achieve a win at St James Park. Newcastle were pretty poor in their last game against Aston Villa but have got some great results at home especially in beating Man United two nil. It’s a huge couple of games for Spurs with playing Newcastle on Sunday then playing Man United next Thursday they will need to pick up at least four points if they still have ambitions of finishing fourth. Score prediction 3-2
Hope you enjoy the Premier League action.
