Paddy’s picks: 2022
My predictions for four Premier League games which will all take place on Sunday 9th October 2022. Another big day of games which includes the clash of Arsenal vs Liverpool. With Manchester City still unbeaten this season it’s important for rivals not to drop points. Rotation is significant for managers with games coming in quick succession due to the 2022 World Cup starting in November.
Crystal Palace vs Leeds United
Crystal Palace struggled in their last home game as they only had 36% possession against Chelsea. It was also hard for The Eagles to create chances as they only created four shots on target against The Blues. Patrick Vieira will have to be more effective with his tactics for this game if they want to get a positive result. Leeds discipline was terrible as they conceded 23 fouls against Aston Villa. Leeds only created two shots on target in their last game at Elland Road and need to create more if they want to win at Selhurst Park. Score prediction 0-0
West Ham United vs Fulham
West Ham are looking to win two Premier League games in a row after beating Wolverhampton Wanders last weekend. Jarrod Bowen will continue to make a run for the 2022 World Cup as he will be hoping to score again this weekend. Fulham got a hammering last weekend after going down to 10 men against Newcastle United. Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored six goals in the Premier League this season and he will need to play well if they want to get a positive result against The Hammers. Score prediction 2-1
Arsenal vs Liverpool
Arsenal have been fantastic in the Premier League this season as they have only lost one game. Arsenal have been more resilient this season and this continued in the North London derby as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1. Gabriel Jesus has scored five goals in the Premier League this season and he will need to score again if The Gunners want to beat Liverpool this weekend. Jurgen Klopp has struggled to get the best out of Liverpool this season as they only have 10 points on the board after seven games. Trent Alexander-Arnold has been caught out on the counter attack in the Premier League this season as Liverpool have conceded nine goals. Score prediction 3-2
Everton vs Manchester United
The final game on Sunday is the clash of Frank Lampard vs Erik Ten Hag at Goodison Park. Everton are in good form at the moment after beating West Ham and Southampton in their last two games. Conor Coady has made Everton more solid at the back and this was instrumental in getting a clean sheet against Liverpool earlier this season. Manchester United need a response after their collapse in the Manchester derby. This will be a tough game for Man United but Anthony Martial has to start in this game as he has scored three goals in his last two games. Away from home might suit Man United as they will like to test Everton back line on the counter attack. Score prediction 1-2
These four games have the potential to be a great day of football and hope it is not an anti-climax. Hope you enjoy it, Paddy.
