Paddy’s review: 2020
A review of the weekend’s sporting events
Starting with soccer I was surprised that Liverpool let 2 goal lead against Shrewsbury. They had a great chance to win the game when it was 2 all and they missed it another game that could do without with going for the league.
It was good to see Man United score a few goals this could do wonders for their confidence and it’s a great chance for them to win something this season. If Solksjaer was able to win some silverwear this season that might buy him some more time in the job as there is massive pressure on him to deliver as a manager of Man United.
Man city’s record in the fa cup is unbelievable for a big team they have so many good players. You will have to beat city if another team wants to win the competition. I know the league for city is looking impossible to retain but they still have the potential of winning a treble this season which would be remarkable.
Spurs record in the fa cup is awful and this continued last weekend as they were lucky to get a draw against Southampton which will give them another chance to get into the next round. For the last few years Spurs have getting better and they need to win something because if they don’t they will be tagged as the nearly club. At the moment Spurs are finding hard to score goals without Kane but they need to try sign a striker because if they can’t find anyone to score goals for them it could be a long end to the season for them.
Arsenal under Arteta is better watch and they are now getting more positive results because Arteta has made them tougher to break down. In the past they would of lost their game against Bournemouth but not anymore because they are now better both mentalty and physically as a team. This trait could make them win a competition this season or make them finish higher in the table this season.
Chelsea made hard work of their fa cup match against Hull but done enough to win the game. When you watch Chelsea it’s like watching a basketball game end to end they concede too many goals. The lack of clean sheets could cost them a top four spot att the end of the season.
Leicester started the weekend with a narrow win against Brentford. Brendan Rodgers has made the foxes hard to break down. They followed up this win with losing their league cup semi final clash with Aston Villa this was a shock that no one saw coming.
To golf on the Pga tour Jon Rahm had a great final round running through the field and was unlucky to just come up short to finish in second. The tournament was won by Australian Marc Leishman he is a very underrated player and he has won some big tournaments in his time. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Aussie would go on to win a major in the next few years. Rory finished third in the event another consistent finish for the Northern Ireland man he is the most consistent player in the game at the moment but he needs to win more.
On the European tour Lucas Herbert surprised everyone to win the event for someone that never won before he should signs of nerves coming down the stretch. That win will set him up for the rest of the season not needing to worry about his card and he go out and play now under no pressure ayo and Donegal finished in a draw these two teams might be able to challenge the Dubs if they raise their games as the season goes on.
