Rory McIlroy will need a low Saturday round as he is eight shots behind -10 36 hole leader Robert MacIntyre

Rory McIlroy -4 played for the second consecutive day with Taylor Pendrith and Nick Taylor. McIlroy’s second shot from 78 yards at one missed the green but managed to escape with a par. The fourth hole is a 539 yard par five, McIlroy was unsuccessful in achieving a birdie and had to settle for a disappointing par. The Northern Irishman’s  bogey free run of 24 holes came to an end at the seventh hole due to a bad tee shot. McIlroy finished the front nine of +1 and headed to 10th tee -3.

An extremely poor second shot from 78 yards by McIlroy which caught a false front resulting in a frustrating bogey. The two-time RBC Canadian Open winner took advantage of a 342 yard drive to return -3. Positive momentum was difficult as he hit a poor tee shot at 13, failing to achieve a par resulting in dropping back to -2. Another poor par five played by McIlroy at 17 with missing the fairway resulting in an unhappy par. The four-time major champion -2 finished with a excellent par to sign for a round of 72.
