Super League
On Sunday 18th April 2021 it was announced that Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have signed a document to agree to the proposed Super League. Over the past 48 hours this has been the most talked thing in football. I have grown up watching the Premier League and I love the Premier League because it’s very competitive and it is great for upsets or unpredictable results as the bottom team can beat the big team on their day. If the Super League goes ahead it could ruin football forever as young players have dreams of winning Premier Leagues and representing your national team will be shattered due to this. Over the last year it has been great that games have went ahead and football was doing wonders for mental health while been in a pandemic and all these owners are worried is about forming a new league. Gary Neville former Manchester United player said on Super Sunday “Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United should be relegated.” I think that Gary Neville is right about this and they should also take the titles off these teams. The owners of these clubs are so greedy and all they care about is filling their bank accounts or pockets and they don’t care about anyone else. The manager and players at these clubs have been thrown under a bus it was disgraceful that they only found about it on Sunday. There has been a lot of discussion since this and not one person wants the Super League to happen. The Premier League would be nothing without the fans and it’s time for fans to protest by refusing to attend matches and protest outside grounds and keep doing it until it makes enough noise with the Governing bodies for football. I watched Leeds and Liverpool last night and both Patrick Bamford and James Milner said that they don’t want it to happen we need for all the players to come together about this whenever your doing an interview because if the players don’t want it then it should make them realise that something isn’t right. The players at these clubs should refuse to play the final games of this season if they don’t want the proposed new Super League to happen. The managers of these clubs need to challenge their owners and see why they agreed to go ahead with this and some managers could leave their clubs due to this like Jurgen Klopp this would have massive implications for the club. I know different channels show Premier League but Sky Sports and BT Sport need to come together about this if they want to save the League. If the so called big six Premier League teams left the Premier League if would effect the financial income of lower teams in the league and Sky Sports put a lot of money into the Premier League and could consider pulling out which would effect the income of the Premier League. There has been some fell good stories in football over the years such as Leicester winning the Premier League in 2016 and stories like this will never happen again if the Super League goes ahead and West Ham are having a great season in the Premier League this season and they could finish in the top four and if the Super League goes ahead West Ham won’t be able to play in the Champions League. I said about the fans above but all the fans that watch football at home they should cancel their contract with either Sky or Virgin so they will stop supporting it which would serious implications on the League. There is plenty of journalists that work for different companies and they all need to come together to stop this from happening. If you are a pundit on TV, Radio or write for a Newspaper you need to mention the Super League in every article you write or every show your on as this is the only way to let people know that the owners of these clubs are trying to make football a closed shop organisation. I support Manchester United and I would stop supporting them if they join this new League so all the fans of Manchester United need to come together to try prevent this from happening. The Premier League watched all over the world and it would suffer to survive if these clubs were to leave the Premier League. It’ time to keep talking about this and for everyone to do their bit to stop this from going ahead.
