PGA Tour preview

After a week break the PGA Tour returns with the World Wide Technology Championship. Russell Henley won this event at Mayakoba in 2022. The lowest ranked player in the field for 2023 edition is world number 17 Cameron Young. The golf season is winding down and this is one of the reasons why no big players from the top 10 of world rankings are in the field.

Beau Hosslier finished in a tie for seventh at the recent Shriners Childrens Open. Hosslier continued to impress as he finished in a tie for second at the ZOZO Championship. Hosslier has played well in this event before with a tied eight finish in 2019. Hosslier also finished in a tie for fifth at the 2020 Mayakoba. With not many household names in the field this could be a great opportunity for Hosslier to impress. I think Hosslier will win the Mayakoba.

Cameron Champ finished in a tie for 10th in the 2018 edition. Champ finished in a tie for ninth at the Sanderson Farms Championship in early October. Champ continued to be consistent as he finished inside the top 20 at the Shriners Childrens Open. I believe that Champ will finish in the top five.

Ludvig Aberg’s rise since turning professional has been incredible which includes winning on the DP World Tour. Aberg had a good Ryder Cup especially when he won 9&7 with Viktor Hovland against Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka. Aberg has continued to impress since the Ryder Cup with finishing inside the top 15 at the Shriners Childrens Open and a tie for second at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Aberg is the bookies favourite for this week’s event but I think he will finish in the top five.

Troy Merritt finished in a tie for third in the 2022 edition. 2022 Mayakoba wasn’t the only success as Merritt finished in a tie for 15th in 2021. A bit of a long shot as Merritt is 70 to one in the bookies. Sometimes horses for courses works and I believe Merritt will finish in the top 10.

Will Gordon finished in a tie for third in 2022 Mayakoba. A good each way bet as Gordon is 100 to one in the bookies. A long shot but I believe Gordon will finish in the top 10.

Hope you enjoy the World Wide Technology Championship over the weekend.
