The Honda Classic
My predictions for The Honda Classic this weekend. The Bear Trap is a famous stretch at The Honda Classic which includes two par 3s and a tough par 4 which all involve a water hazard. These three holes can change the outlook of the tournament as you can drop multiple shots throughout the Bear Trap. Sepp Straka won the 2022 The Honda Classic. The field is not as strong for this tournament with the next two events been massive at Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players.
Shane Lowry finished second at 2022 The Honda Classic. Lowry would of won the event only to be put off by a shower of rain while playing the 18th hole. Lowry is coming into this event in decent form after finishing inside the top 15 at The Genesis Invitational. This is a great opportunity for Lowry to kick start his year with a win. My opinion is that Lowry will win The Honda Classic.
Adam Svenson finished in the top 10 at the recent Genesis after shooting a final round of two under. Svenson likes The Honda Classic after finishing inside the top ten at 2022 edition. A fantastic opportunity for Svenson to continue his good form with the field not been as strong. My opinion is that Svenson will finish in the top five at The Honda Classic.
Harris English finished tied 12th at The Genesis last weekend. English played at Whistling Straits in 2020 Ryder Cup and will need a big year to make the America team for Rome. The Honda Classic is a event that suits English as he finished inside the top 15 at 2019 edition. My opinion is that English will finish in the top five at The Honda Classic.
Danny Willett finished tied 18th at the recent Genesis Invitational. Willett loves a difficult course as he won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in 2019. The English man will look to continue his decent form at The Honda Classic this weekend. A bit of a long shot but my opinion is that Willett will finish in the top ten at The Honda Classic.
Mark Hubbard finished 15th at 2022 The Honda Classic. A long shot as Hubbard is ranked 171 in the world but he likes the course due to his previous finish. Hubbard is an outsider as his odds are 100 to 1 in the bookies but no big stars in the field could suit him. My opinion is that Hubbard will finish in the top 10 at The Honda Classic.
The other interest at The Honda Classic is Padraig Harrington. This is his third tour to play on in 2023. Harrington won The Honda Classic in 2015. Harrington is in great form after finishing second at the Chubb Classic in the latest Champions Tour event. The Dubliner is very competitive but making the cut at The Honda Classic would be a good achievement.
A lot of great sport on this weekend which includes the EFL Cup final between Man United and Newcastle but I will try to follow The Honda Classic. Usually I’m looking forward to PGA Tour events but I’m not feeling it this week due to the lack of big names in the field. I hope you enjoy The Honda Classic and it would be great if both Lowry and Harrington have a great finish.
